Blogging is an easy way for me to capture memories while sharing them with family & friends.  However, I always regret not having some type of a physical photo album or scrapbook that would also serve this purpose. One problem with making this happen…I am not a scrap booker, like AT ALL. I lack all creative talent and patience to be a scrapper. And trust me, I’ve tried many, <em>many</em> times and have always been left feeling defeated. </p> <p>My friend, Katie, posted on her blog a couple months back about a photo album product that she came across called <a href="http://www.beckyhiggins.com/" target="_blank">Project Life by Becky Higgins</a>. Have you heard of it? If not, please take a look. It is a photo album & journal rolled into one, without the time requirement or creative genius needed for a scrapbook.  </p> <p>The original idea of Project Life is to take a photo a day for every week of the year. You print your photos, place them in the album and fill out a journaling card to document whatever event and/or moment your photos have captured. It’s genius. And so easy. The best part? You can make the book into anything you want. You don’t have to take a photo a day, or even a photo a week. You can document by days, weeks, months, or milestones. </p> <p> </p> <p><a href="http://www.beckyhiggins.com/" target="_blank"><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto; padding-top: 0px" title="Project Life - Amber Kit" border="0" alt="Project Life - Amber Kit" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjslwnIDqEVehouCDjNXc5cB5pT5f55oZnB69_KAbmFNI5dHSSA47jSmv4xwGBHpPet4UomGzAkL0P8TXNmTe9UKgt0aE4hDlUGilgyb-Wz68FsugbjMd44UpQgjpFYKhr8HgP8YQ7Uorh/?imgmax=800" width="394" height="277" /></a></p> <p align="center">Picture of the kit contents. The small boxes in the top right have all of the different journaling cards inside. </p> <p align="center"> </p> <p>My project life book is going to document all 52 weeks of the year. I am not going to require myself to take a picture a day, but rather take pictures as I normally do, and then document them by the weeks that those pictures happened. So sometimes I end up documenting just a specific day out of the week when maybe we had something extra fun planned, and some weeks I have pictures from every single day. </p> <p> </p> <p><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto; padding-top: 0px" title="" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhPRKCcTAGyrJeeExEzbljLjWXZb-daqVC8Wt6_K9p9GXePkHFl71nuIwJm8uWWsj4ghk-o6d63jlC-Ei-emY9iLrL_4sWywuqDsQ8Fp8rdtXUZg5Ntiz0XIJGHJCDJVYAyuvWnw65psMr/?imgmax=800" width="482" height="333" /></p> <p align="center">The above pic shows an entire week layout {Sun – Sat}. It’s a really cool way to capture exactly how life is happening RIGHT NOW. I’ve documented football games, play dates, park trips, tantrums, injuries, vacations, just plain boring days, etc. That is LIFE. I love it.</p> <p>You can purchase the kits through Amazon. I follow Becky Higgin’s on Facebook so that I can stay up to date on all of her products. The 2010 kits are almost sold out and they aren’t printing any more until this Fall when she will release her 2012 kits. So if you’re interested, go to <a href="http://astore.amazon.com/beckhigg-20/detail/B0049LRLLC" target="_blank">Amazon</a> now to check out her remaining kits :)</p> <p><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3BbBxmQ9Mio09UpOhQX5sh6lOf0B_8IsxENjLWHKD3ECkmJe_DyVuGxnNsiB1sLoJagW8u_0Cjqlbk5lqn8SYY9AofpvIwGXcfu2NWQ88U_hngpKOjCle91YWnSSv4dbyeKJy8xw-LdNH/?imgmax=800" width="196" height="98" /></p> Hollyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16535224004355394885noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3368909141755451911.post-81847571706336351172011-03-24T13:02:00.001-07:002011-03-24T13:04:17.985-07:00PPB Outlet Sale & Review<p>Hey mamas…if you haven’t checked it out yet, <a href="http://www.petuniaoutlet.com/" target="_blank">Petunia Pickle Bottom</a> is having their semi annual online outlet sale right now. A percentage of proceeds are being donated to the Red Cross in order to assist Japan. </p> <p>I’ve been in the market for a backpack diaper bag, since I will soon be welcoming #2 and free hands is a must! I’ve been debating between the PPB Boxy Backpack & the Ju Ju Be BFF. The Ju Ju Be, in my opinion, appeared at first to be slightly more practical due to the large opening for the main bag compartment, however their bag prints make me cringe. Not subtle at all, which is not really my style. The PPB prints are gorgeous, but I was a little turned off by the narrow opening of the main zippered area, however it is deeper and can hold more stuff than the Ju Ju Be. Price wise, they are pretty much the same. It was a toss up, but it was still tough to think about coughing up the $169 for the PPB Boxy Backpack. So, I’ve been waiting for their outlet sale. The outlet sells all products with discontinued prints and/or certified second products at a huge discount. </p> <p>On Tuesday, I bought a ‘certified second’ boxy backpack for $67! That’s 61% off!! They say the ‘certified second’ bags could not be sold in the stores due to some minor flaw…which could be anything from a fabric mark to  just damaged packaging when shipped. Well, FedEx just delivered my bag and it’s PERFECT! Not a mark, scuff, or thread out of place!! To make me even happier, the bag arrived two days after I purchased it. WOOHOO!!! </p> <p>This is the bag I bought:</p> <p>         <img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFjTA-ZY88ab-HuljGDXOn3gdn2hM_Ao8mGAIFPQGfsHjL1KHxWkWai0LjZKt3DdRu3RW-QV93hfe1YeSOQIYT4IEKaIqJ_89rfTel4VRBwrLgIp1J34DoRA6AKr3YWdyZXrk0bPw58vsN/?imgmax=800" width="364" height="252" /><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBy7GZmwlrT6_2HZb_gXhb5hjYM8hBL7sIVU8WQH4wagMGOzKvIndUlBBs0B2Rsp7ZuBWc5BU14JSg-xSKWo9M2k5zwdgEo2P69FrcZBKrOli5IRjxzR4uB-pVPGLN1RFI0bgl-brZTl54/?imgmax=800" width="163" height="249" /></p> <p> </p> <p><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto; padding-top: 0px" title="" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPmPpizpYwXGSrNWThA_WrhC07wwkdCek7UelzeCXEb21CmEI5Tp_tuIqyAArRjb9MGBPWWQ8bCfZZqkb2WEz_y9FwvNgw-8UG0I12Nnfz2DAR_t7YxtmENb5R8GG586h_JfaSgRKcIJkO/?imgmax=800" width="326" height="226" /></p> <p><img style="background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto; padding-top: 0px" title="" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSghiC_LuxaT4RxkpuVj6z4It26rew8KoLeuZ0wEiVqK_nG_nJlCXqDrrBddw2iq_wJoIfV7MYHm1OUxWodVX8FMAqebMep-voF0AIvSENknz-WSgj86K4KcfiyrUi-8xcHDVOdcHmZHUr/?imgmax=800" width="330" height="229" /></p> <p> </p> <p>I was a little concerned about the colors. The online picture made it look really bright, and I don’t like bright. But I read an online review that said the colors were much softer in person, so I took a chance. And I’m glad I did. The colors are perfect…actually very muted! Not bright at all. The darker blue actually has a grayish tint to it, and the light blue is very soft, not that obnoxious baby blue. I love all things shabby chic, and this completely reminds me of that style. </p> <p>The sale ends 03/28…you can click <a href="http://www.petuniaoutlet.com/" target="_blank">here</a>, to see what they have in stock. </p> Hollyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16535224004355394885noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3368909141755451911.post-50018993649344433282011-03-09T20:45:00.001-08:002011-03-09T20:45:25.416-08:00Clip, clip, clip<p> </p> <p><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHdPYeHARQpQAJsoN8gDr9XDndgA-UWCVSO3lrxRIXzzefosruy8zfeFYIddVkVf8OdfG9ip3hJX0SBJpL3TDEtfD7AUMLaCNCPy89zNQiaDoFt-fNByC-wOfRDzBhp3grelHH3DOW6ywx/?imgmax=800" width="290" height="174" /></p> <p>Ok, so I kinda sorta jumped on this couponing band wagon. I’ve always clipped coupons from my Sunday paper, but this time around I’m going more “extreme” with it and using websites to coordinate using my coupons with store deals. </p> <p>I have a girlfriend who kept showing me receipts from grocery & drug stores where she literally paid pennies for bags and bags of groceries. So she hooked me…</p> <p>It took a little bit of time to sort through the good & bad websites to use, but I’ve found a few favorites that I’m going to share it with you! </p> <p> </p> <p><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoQSIrYkPqH6Vl9UV2t4a9jjPEs6GS6pYChQ3eXxCVNT1Lj0yT0IsoLlA8k2lGBwSli5vkDv2luD2KZ4CGsAIASZbAOTxVvhedXum4QNW25Mn_yG_-c7FbAUmMWNqRESWdtsB4RT537J9D/?imgmax=800" width="275" height="183" /></p> <p>I’m in no way shape or form as good as those women on that crazy TLC coupon show, but I have been saving quite a bit of money which always is a good thing!</p> <p>The following are all of the websites that I visit throughout the week, follow on facebook, and rely on to form my shopping lists…</p> <p><a href="http://thekrazycouponlady.com/" target="_blank">The Krazy Coupon Lady</a> – her website is fantastic! It’s pretty much a catch all for every sale, new coupon, and deal available. Following her on Facebook is a must…</p> <p><a href="www.coupons.com" target="_blank">Coupons.com</a> – I print numerous coupons from this website throughout the week. It’s easy to print from and easy to navigate…</p> <p><a href="http://www.couponnetwork.com/" target="_blank">The Coupon Network</a> – Also a great one to print coupons from</p> <p><a href="http://www.saveathomemommy.com/" target="_blank">Save at Home Mommy</a> – I use this site to access the sale lists for VONS & Stater Bros. </p> <p><a href="http://www.hip2save.com/" target="_blank">Hip2Save</a> – I have always been a fan of this site, but now I use it to track down all Rite Aid & Wal-Greens, and Target sales.</p> <p>There are honestly a million and one websites that provide all of the same information, it’s just about finding the one’s that work for you. *FYI: Never, ever PAY a website to provide you sale lists from grocery stores…you can find all of the information for FREE from the above links that I provided. </p> <p>The first weekend of the month I did a big shopping trip for all of our food & necessities that we would need for the next 2-3 weeks. I usually can spend an easy $180-200 just in food. </p> <p>I went to Vons & Stater Bros. It took me an hour and a half to do all of my shopping. I was armed with a stack of coupons and coordinated shopping lists for each store. I spent a total of $95.18. I saved $54.77 in just clipped & printed coupons, not including the savings from my Vons card, etc. </p> <p>Then I went to Rite Aid, spent $9.03, and walked away with Huggies diapers, 4 free Nivea chapsticks, free tube of Colgate toothpaste, free Colgate toothbrush, Garnier makeup removing wipes, and some other misc things. <em>*It’s important to know that you need to sign up for a Rite Aid Rewards card {it’s free} from their website, prior to doing any shopping there. This is how you can earn free rite aid dollars from purchases you make.</em></p> <p>Not too bad in my opinion. </p> <p>Like I said, I’m not as “professional” as some people I know, but I’m couponing to the extent that I have time for, and saving some money while doing it…can’t go wrong, right?! </p> <p>Anybody out there a pro already?! I’m already thinking about the plethora of bbq’s & playdates I can’t wait to plan when the weather warms up. Last year, we bought my son an awesome Step2 <a href="http://www.swingsetsandmore.com/" target="_blank">swingsets</a> from CSN Stores…and it’s a kid magnet! CSN had the best price & free shipping. Just can’t beat it! </p> <p>Well, CSN is offering a $35 gift card to one lucky reader of my blog! Maybe you’re in need of a swing set, or outdoor accessory for your patio or yard? The options are endless with CSN. </p> <p>Here’s how to enter {leave a separate comment for each}:</p> <p>1.) What’s one spring/summer activity you can’t wait to do this year?</p> <p>2.) Become a follower of my blog! {if you already do, just let me know}</p> <p>3.) Tweet, Facebook, or Blog about this giveaway and leave me the link in a comment! </p> <p> </p> <p>Good luck! I will randomly choose a winner on Monday, March 7th.  </p> Hollyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16535224004355394885noreply@blogger.com40tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3368909141755451911.post-90360404968449458352011-03-02T10:59:00.001-08:002011-03-02T11:06:52.051-08:00Two tickets for $9!!!<p>Head over to <a href="http://livingsocial.com/deals/28498?ref=personalized-link-box-6941322&rpi=6941322" target="_blank">Living Social</a> today, to score TWO Fandango movie tickets for just $9!!! We are actually real life friends, sorority sisters from college, in fact. Our hubby’s are BFF’s in a strange <em>man-love</em> kind of way. Weird, I know. But anyway…Heidi is also kind of a blog world celebrity. You may know her! Have you seen her blog, <a href="http://thecraftmonkey.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">The Craft Monkey</a>?! Or maybe you’ve shopped on her <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/craftmonkeydesigns" target="_blank">ETSY site</a>?! If not, you must become a blog follower of hers. She is crafty, hilarious, talented, generous, thoughtful and just plain awesome! </p> <p>A couple of month’s back, she sent me a surprise box in the mail. It was full of super fun Tupperware products to sample. {what a sweet friend!} I have never once been to an actual Tupperware party, and I’ve never owned an actual piece of {real} Tupperware. All of my “tupperware” is the cheapy, knock off junk that I’ve acquired through the years. The stuff that doesn’t make it past a couple of dishwasher cycles. Do you know how many random lids I have that don’t fit the container anymore?! Ugh, it’s junk!</p> <p> <img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPgrq0dDDOQdERaMoDzU8vH4CUl0JxGg_Wzg8XhgecM7LdNb671kdBh895kJ0d7zPzkXALFp00LIM9poXAe_qhjDxDI8XL0c9OE2fn9-o5gcwDWlTaZ7-Uxe-0X5aoBJRdAut2wyXFVNta/?imgmax=800" width="394" height="244" /></p> <p>So I was ecstatic to open this box of goodies and try out some quality & useful storage containers, that just might make my life easier. </p> <p><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTy6VcP8PqQlPGBuuAJB2ezer1fpd0tR0X1fDCFqFbwWFFq3jS9v-5mH2X2rZDJ7gdozYeeDEAmhrscjXsEJju2FsMKmpdDjPNKOcGh6cZGjNm3ix6cFPsNT8MUgxvn45Xpq8yK0ESxDKp/?imgmax=800" width="449" height="325" /></p> <p><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZ6PYsd_oio7CEQ5vXSIrNfieI1JTWw9pUz7TFnAtoN2jb80sHGSwLQJF_ifB54e7vaSDL5qUOka39VXMxilq-Vfc2UIGrzVva6cnNi7PbJBOptZBpSWxJBvQPxDluDHj3v2YM0eXSybP9/?imgmax=800" width="438" height="313" /></p> <p>This is what I got:</p> <p><em>Early Ages Eco Feed & Grow Set – {did you know Tupperware makes stuff for toddlers?!}</em></p> <p><em>Small Modular & Wonderlier Bowls w/ airtight and liquid tight seals</em></p> <p><em>Stuffables Container w/ expandable lid for when you pile left overs too high </em></p> <p><em>Mini salt & pepper shakers</em></p> <p><em>Forget Me Not Round Container – hangs from a refrigerator shelf and can hold half an onion, tomato, or citrus fruit. </em></p> <p><em>Mellon Ballers & Veggie Spirals & Citrus Peelers</em></p> <p><em>Mini Pitcher – perfect for pancake batter or syrups </em></p> <p>All of this stuff is AWESOME! It isn’t flimsy, the lids are a perfect fit, completely air tight, none of this stuff has been stained by any food that I’ve kept in it, and it’s all lived through countless dishwasher cycles. </p> <p>My FAVORITE, {a must have}, piece is this totally cool Forget Me Not container. I have never see anything like this before, and I’m not sure how I’ve lived without it! </p> <p><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDiFwaygUlPqDoZgtcIk_mZB1KzoqWQ56saeANV9JyHTJLjy4MlnZkmlmvrxTOfYdgIXTWaZCf6QcNOCjbFjWJxV0t6ccumt5RrQ-xB8MvgjOSQ7KXzvvZo1YDS2sBSaJd5ruM39rVa3C6/?imgmax=800" width="354" height="248" /></p> <p>This thing hangs from any refrigerator shelf, and holds any half or quarter piece of onion, tomato, or any kind of lemon, lime, etc. Do you know how many onion halves I have tossed into the trash because I didn’t want to store them in some big container or waste a Ziploc bag?! I use this thing ALL of the TIME!! </p> <p>My son also got to participate in the fun! He loves his new toddler tumbler! </p> <p><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiD7G_5c3-Z5mELDzL9PaMBS9Syj32m0d3qQarXRAKfJvMWrkDplA0QnFHfSaZu8Dpyr-qY9EBfUM-lZrO8RdKxW1yhJeDERatdLC65oqB_yaxwoMZCzXbqyOxNsZ2Rnaj6KUpM-SSaorfv/?imgmax=800" width="333" height="229" /></p> <p>My hubby also loves the mini green pouring pitcher…he makes our son & I blueberry pancakes every Saturday morning, so he uses the pitcher for the pancake batter! It pours perfect!! Yay for no messes of dripped batter! </p> <p>Who knew Tupperware could be so fun! It’s definitely come a long way…</p> <p>If you are interested in gracing your kitchen with any new Tupperware, click on the <a href="http://order.tupperware.com/pls/htprod_www/home" target="_blank">link</a> below and check out the extensive online catalog!! No crowds. No problem.<p> </p> <p><a href="http://www.blackfriday.info/store/amazon"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px" border="0" alt="Amazon Sale" src="http://cdn.blackfriday.info/images/amazon-bfweek.png" /></a></p> <p>I don’t know about you, but I am not a Black Friday person. There is no <em>“deal”</em> out there that will ever be good enough for me to get up before dawn only to fight off crowds of crazy people. Yes, I think people who shop on Black Friday are <em>CRAZY</em>! My blood pressure rises just thinking about it…</p> <p>I prefer sitting behind my laptop, clicking away, and only having to worry about cursing out my DSL service. Stress free. </p> <p>I’ve collected a few of the best websites to find online deals, either on Black Friday or Cyber Monday:</p> <p align="center"><a title="http://bfads.net/Online-Deals" href="http://bfads.net/Online-Deals"><strong>http://bfads.net/Online-Deals</strong></a></p> <p align="center"><a title="http://www.blackfridayonline.com/" href="http://www.blackfridayonline.com/"><strong>http://www.blackfridayonline.com/</strong></a></p> <p align="center"><a title="http://www.amazon.com/b/?node=384082011&tag=reblis-20" href="http://www.amazon.com/b/?node=384082011&tag=reblis-20"><strong>http://www.amazon.com/b/?node=384082011&tag=reblis-20</strong></a></p> <p align="center"><a title="http://www.blackfriday.info/online/" href="http://www.blackfriday.info/online/"><strong>http://www.blackfriday.info/online/</strong></a></p> <p align="center"> </p> <p> </p> <p>And…for you crazy people out there, here are a couple links to the most popular in store ads! </p> <p align="center"><a title="http://bfads.net/" href="http://bfads.net/"><strong>                             http://bfads.net/</strong></a></p> <p align="center"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; margin-left: 0px; border-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; border-right: 0px" border="0" alt="Walmart Black Friday Deals" align="left" src="http://cdn.blackfridayonline.com/images/popular-walmart-ad.jpg" width="144" height="194" /><a title="http://www.blackfridayonline.com/popular-ads/" href="http://www.blackfridayonline.com/popular-ads/"><strong>http://www.blackfridayonline.com/popular-ads/</strong></a></p> <p align="center"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; margin-left: 0px; border-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; border-right: 0px" border="0" alt="Target Black Friday Deals" align="left" src="http://cdn.blackfridayonline.com/images/popular-target-ad.jpg" width="144" height="194" /></p> <p></p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p>Good luck…may the force be with you ;)</p> Hollyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16535224004355394885noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3368909141755451911.post-1132950132357767622010-11-15T17:43:00.001-08:002010-11-15T17:43:45.226-08:00a.must.follow<p>The blog I am about to share with you is dangerous. Every square inch, all 5 bedrooms, top to bottom, even the ceilings! It was quite the task. Hence the reason we paid professionals. But before any of that could happen we had to pick paint colors. </p> <p><em>Oh.my.lord. </em>I hate picking out paint colors! Seriously, my eyes cross just thinking about it. I just wanted someone to tell me what colors to pick! Who doesn’t?! </p> <p>The painters we hired, exclusively used <a href="http://www.sherwin-williams.com/" target="_blank">Sherwin Williams</a> paint only. I had no prior experience with the brand, so I had to trust their professional opinion. Before picking colors, I googled <em>“most popular Sherwin Williams paint colors</em>”…about a million websites popped up. I came across a real estate home staging website, and on their message board a few realtors were discussing the most popular colors found in model homes. <em>Ding, Ding, Ding!</em> That’s exactly what I wanted!</p> <p>The two most discussed colors were <strong>SW Kilim Beige</strong> & <strong>SW Latte</strong>. I used Kilim Beige in all of my common areas such as the entryway, stairway, hallway, etc. I was looking for a neutral color to match any accent wall or any type of decor and this color was perfect for me! Then I used Latte for my kitchen and kitchen island. Latte & Kilim Beige transition perfectly together! I love, love, LOVE these two colors. </p> <p>Here are some photo examples <em>{brace yourself for the “before” pics, they are horrifying}</em></p> <p align="center">the BEFORE:</p> <p><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px" title="" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_IHg_nc0-wA9jkS6mahHfJ83nVzYQ1bLYP5b2olNDy1Nee93gNnWu-DpPARlZleeCTRlDdED3QC60AFpxwJcF9GWfqqW5BEWux1h2cbJh7C2LcPHqCDjDwtx_MRn9IS1dPzsJmvD5uBe3/?imgmax=800" width="373" height="284" /> </p> <p align="center"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px" title="" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5TNKaLg35QXekkEKKuc2uUoxA1-HHsV6E7Z0ur7XGa5DhnRZaaS7URqeg-fbcr7HrRDdyz3Kx8YZ9Cm3T_dfMv5abC3tJMI63npcd-KNcpolU6ci76zJwcQznN_5Hwi9-UCahtrlnEY-0/?imgmax=800" width="373" height="284" /> the AFTER {SW Kilim Beige}</p> <p align="left"> </p> <p align="center"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-MFMcfT5iZ2XYzSeiPlYoPkeJ9pO4I5YdqoC1JxK8j_774aj__7OY1atXjcW3O40V1T437znKxHX_gPHaZNPBT4xkIro7tr5b8FNuUAE7Dm6w_qWPZavAPj7GGbWQP2Y9QrjYkXxBdc9q/?imgmax=800" width="379" height="288" /> </p> <p align="center">Formal Dining room BEFORE </p> <p align="center"> </p> <p>          <img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px" title="" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRFYDgBSxiq6OHEvi9ICW6KVNNw6A2joYoITA2mJhMw9lC0IJw8zIJGthv72MICMMOmrEd8tZkCKB1GohRKACel6qcbGD2axFsLZ8j1WhUD1q_9hzkKVpXTljdKmSfpzCQGw0huL3BDkYI/?imgmax=800" width="398" height="311" /> </p> <p align="center">AFTER {Kilim Beige next to burgundy accent wall}</p> <p>    <img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmgsl0wGpy3yEcNXWoTB1KMHxdEhAoUbegeNmE0JZIxyXkaUDFkreRC0qw0PhK2K1fQsHcMaLTsvcqDfE4MP50K49vG_QhJvEMqm2h206Ks4TSe_pIqiET4UIMSzwnRRlPAvxkjdxUOZqK/?imgmax=800" width="214" height="281" /><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-bjwzDV4iekY1xBxmKg0m1MT1U3UUHtPKpqyjE09nksFzSl47PnhjRMTdBaXYAgRqhZvMhVjpu7bGJWzkAgkZ8xEvlrnwHu97ZKvC5-aXeT4BWAjd0BtiKmC2ODJ1MiPBgjPq79AYvkO1/?imgmax=800" width="367" height="279" /> </p> <p align="center">View from and into the formal living room</p> <p> </p> <p align="center"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px" title="" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAkOUaGpYORIRrN5BcMMvdfvYxZlYUAks1UeWw4IHyX0oTRV7gwMcOrMdmBobd_XaymD6SOcukObn-tzq5_rMI_2pnTmvWAfetp0TKwoSlg7oPZpnC9-ubHlUujFPV0_5NrOvkVDXL7rJR/?imgmax=800" width="389" height="296" /> Kitchen BEFORE</p> <p><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px" title="" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKuNJyMHXojp0ADUgqHUWTyWu9MegcA19Zwyh-a3a-9p-qkltPoYBFrnfjAZZ4UXK3SID4evEWdfvzI3DNJRUjzdIJnXvhbdVnSYMr4-My1bZKewIB367mm-JevWPKh_pq1y93D5D7ae38/?imgmax=800" width="414" height="317" /></p> <p align="center"> Up-close of SW Latte in kitchen</p> <p align="center"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px" title="" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAaoJbJ0CqNHC1Tbd9yMoDPA1cCsk6Oq4M6VEeMO6rDwuFFQfGedVHj-Wkrhm3TcQPcDCt44VpphQxVORFFVixdz_rXDAu2hFpr7mJoVnvfkSbp3Ncwh8Bo2C9BzA7i2KJC2cTnExaiWKu/?imgmax=800" width="411" height="314" /> Kitchen walls & island are in Latte</p> <p align="center"> </p> <p>After looking at all of our BEFORE pictures it really makes me want to blog about all of the other rooms that received a face lift! But I’ll stick with this for now ;)</p> <p>FYI: All of the paint we used was in an eggshell finish. This may offend you, so I apologize in advance, but I really dislike glossy or semi-gloss paint! I do not like my walls to have “shine” or “glare”. So everything has a flat or velvety finish to it. </p> <p>I was extremely impressed with the quality of SW. It was affordable and so far I love the richness of the colors. Also – SW did a great job matching colors. In our master bedroom & master bath, we wanted specific Restoration Hardware brand colors {love RH!} so we provided swatches and <em>WAH-LAH!! Perfect match!!</em></p> <p>So there you have it! Hopefully this post helped a few people out there that are paint color challenged like myself! Happy painting :)</p> Hollyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16535224004355394885noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3368909141755451911.post-4627718775743495222010-10-27T15:33:00.001-07:002010-10-27T15:33:50.188-07:00oh for the love of paint<p>I hate to paint. I loathe it. I have vowed to<em> never.ever.paint.again. </em></p> <p>When we bought our house last year, we had to have every square inch repainted. Oy. Prior foreclosure, nuff said. {So we hired professionals to get the job done}</p> <p>I recently came across a home decorator blog trying to gain inspiration for some holiday ideas, and I noticed they did an entire post on why you should never ever paint over oak wood. And several people commented about how it repulses them to see people paint oak and it’s a “no-no” in the wood/paint world. Hmm…I disagree.</p> <p>Case in point:</p> <p>Check out our OAK kitchen cabinets when we first closed escrow on our house. </p> <p><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto" title="" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOgOeFaqC7XW5bqPUJyVh2l8InfdXHpbhft9oKQvlOX8oK6wbXY9lEVFvesKAfNK_jiANrVKVlAwSRyjdRGhzGqxqybflY66CDdf_s7i8nzFZlT-3errSmVGEyM-hvG_dIXTPxy0UdJv2t/?imgmax=800" width="437" height="332" /></p> <p>Blah. This pictures makes me want to vomit. In my opinion, the oak makes the kitchen look so outdated. The house is just barley 6 years old, and the kitchen looks 20 years old! Yikes. </p> <p>So we decided to give them a little makeover with some white paint….cheap & easy {well, easy for me since I didn’t lift one paint brush}.</p> <p> </p> <p><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto" title="" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSyUoqDzqxRHFgdRIf1h9BZ0X8jjOt9x-vZFFFUMgoBFePCMtR0QWESJomlBiey_688_mpOKFSFjOePSWovonAR_ayxixFQJ-k5BHZtV_RIfeVGePNr3i2rVhxIuvEqTwIFbB8S3suATPG/?imgmax=800" width="476" height="363" /> </p> <p>I think this AFTER picture trumps the blog post that says never to paint over Oak. I don’t regret this makeover for a split second. Gives so much life to the kitchen. </p> <p>So there you have it…if you’re in need of some home improvement inspiration, here you go. </p> <p>Stay tuned for my follow up post on some popular paint colors that will eliminate the painful process of picking out that perfect shade…just thinking about picking out paint colors makes my skin crawl. So if you feel the same way, check back later this week ;)</p> Hollyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16535224004355394885noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3368909141755451911.post-86160726289778333632010-10-18T13:15:00.001-07:002010-10-18T13:16:46.195-07:00it’s a shoe thang<p>Head over to <a href="http://shop.nordstrom.com/?origin=tab-logo" target="_blank">Nordstrom.com</a> and you can get free shipping on all shoes if you purchase before 10/25/10 and use the promo code SHOES at checkout. </p> <p>They also have some good sales going on….I have been looking high & low for some sandal-type shoes for my son since he grew from a size 4 to 6 literally overnight. And even though it’s raining here all week, it undoubtedly will be back to 85 degrees shortly. NO stores have any sandals in stock…I’ve looked everywhere. </p> <p>Well lo & behold, I found that Nordstrom has some GREAT sale prices on kids Stride Rite shoes. I got my son the below <a href="http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/3069808?origin=category&resultback=1465" target="_blank">pair</a> for $25.90 {40% off the original price of $43.95}. </p> <p><a href="http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/3069808?origin=category&resultback=1465" target="_blank"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px" border="0" alt="Stride Rite 'Ty' Sandal (Baby, Walker & Toddler)" src="http://g.nordstromimage.com/imagegallery/store/product/Gigantic/7/_5944407.jpg" width="261" height="268" /></a></p> <p> </p> <p>If you’re interested in Stride Rite’s, check out Amazon first. They actually have this exact shoe for $4 cheaper with free shipping, however they didn’t have my son’s size. </p> <p>Happy shopping!</p> Hollyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16535224004355394885noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3368909141755451911.post-51551001934135796042010-10-12T16:08:00.001-07:002010-10-12T16:08:40.652-07:00It’s tough<p>So I’m not exactly a domestic goddess when it comes to laundry. Oh lord do I hate doing laundry. Biggest pet peeve ever. Especially since the boys in my family are stain magnets. My hubby comes home with practically an entire football field smeared on his clothes and my son, well, he’s just a walking mess. </p> <p>I have always used Shout stain remover. Why I have never tried anything else, I have no idea. In my personal opinion, Shout sucks. It just doesn’t do a good job, especially for the stains a 16 month old can acquire. </p> <p>So I finally decided to try something else and picked up this <a href="http://www.oxiclean.com/pre-treatment/Products/oxiclean-max-force-laundry-stain-remover-spray.aspx" target="_blank">OxiClean stain remover</a>:</p> <p> </p> <p><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; border-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; border-right: 0px" title="OxiClean® Max Force® Laundry Stain Remover Spray" border="0" alt="OxiClean® Max Force® Laundry Stain Remover Spray" src="http://www.oxiclean.com/siteimages/Product/Large/a3ab8e92-91b7-4d39-81bc-4ecb8fd0e63d.png" width="298" height="298" /></p> <p></p> <p></p> <p> </p> <p>This stuff just confirms my love for all OxiClean products. This stuff rocks! Completely removed the evidence of an entire oreo cookie all over my son’s white polo shirt! yahoo! Oh and it smells really good too! I also used it on my carpeted stairs after our cat got sick all over them the other night…it worked like a charm! </p> <p>If you go to the OxiClean <a href="http://www.oxiclean.com/pre-treatment/Products/oxiclean-max-force-laundry-stain-remover-spray.aspx" target="_blank">website</a> you can print a $0.75 off coupon for this product!
